Libertarian Tech Entrepreneur Challenges Business Owners to Ditch Google

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico — Patty Malowney, Libertarian activist and search engine consultant, is challenging business owners to ditch Google.  For the last twenty years Google has monopolized the search engine market.  Business owners use Google for everything – Google searches, Google Maps, Google advertising.

Google has a strong-hold on the search engine market.  Over 87 percent of the search engine market is controlled by Google.  As big tech companies are controlling more of the market, smaller tech competitors are not able to compete.  Even though they might offer better, less-biased results, businesses rely on Google to promote their businesses.

Privacy and freedom of speech are important issues for libertarians. Search engines like DuckDuckGo offer private searches, unbiased results, and demonstrate a more libertarian option in search engines. In order for search engines like DuckDuckGo to compete with giants in the tech industry, more business owners need to start using their services.  Ms. Malowney is challenging Libertarians to change their search engine to alternatives like DuckDuckGo.
